Fitted wardrobes in Leicester

The Victorian terraces in Stoneygate have a chimney breast on the bedroom wall with an alcove either side. A pair of wardrobes in those alcoves, run right up to the ceiling, turns two awkward recesses into the best storage in the room, and the chimney breast between them becomes the place for the bed or a dressing table. Each alcove is measured on its own, because the two are rarely the same size, and every filler and end panel is scribed to the wall and ceiling on site, to the millimetre.

The 1930s semis in Oadby are a different house, but the rule is the same: in older homes the walls and ceilings are rarely true, so the furniture has to be made to the room rather than the other way round. Every wardrobe is an 18mm carcase with solid 18mm backs and tops, with soft-close hinges and drawers, in a door style you choose from the samples: Harrington 4-Panel or Chester for a period bedroom, Shaker No Grooves or Capri for something plainer, Stockholm fluted or Manhattan with its integrated handle for a more modern room. Where floor space is tight, aluminium-framed sliding doors with board, mirror or glass panels give the whole wall over to storage. The price includes every panel, plinth, cornice, handle and interior.

Home offices in Leicester

A fitted home office turns a box room or the end of a spare bedroom into somewhere you can work all day: a desk at the right height, drawers and cupboards for the paperwork, shelves above, and the cables run out of sight. Because it is made to the room, it can take in a window, a sloping ceiling or a chimney breast rather than fight them. Worktops in 36mm are available, as is dimmable LED lighting in warm or neutral white. We fit home offices across the city and out to Wigston, Glenfield, Anstey and Birstall.

Media walls and fitted living in Leicester

The media wall we fitted in Ratcliffe on the Wreake, just north-east of Leicester, shows what we mean by fitted living: shaker doors in Cashmere, a built-in fire, and LED lighting behind the television and in the open shelves. The same approach suits the alcoves either side of a living-room chimney breast in a Stoneygate terrace, under-stairs storage, and a hallway cupboard that finally takes the coats and shoes. Dimmable lighting in warm or neutral white is available, the cables are hidden, and the whole piece is scribed to the walls and ceiling so it reads as part of the house rather than a unit stood against it.
